HOW OUR GHOSTWRITING PROCESS WORKS
Like all of our collaborations, the conversation starts with you. Tell us about your vision for the book.
We want to know what success looks like to you so that we can help you come up with a plan to get there.
Your first step will be to schedule a call with one of the Pub Pros co-founders so you can tell us about your project and the kind of writing support you’re looking for. During that call, we can help you navigate the choices that come with writing a book, such as whether you plan to self-publish or pursue traditional publishing, and what each of those paths might look like.
Once we know more about your project, we’ll connect you with a ghostwriter whose background matches your needs. Our roster of ghostwriters have collaborated with authors across a range of genres to create bestselling and award-winning books. They are highly skilled at helping authors communicate their message on the page to create an authentic narrative that connects with readers.
You will work with your ghostwriter to create a custom workflow and schedule for your project. Often, the process looks like this:
Full service: This is ideal for authors who do not have the time or desire to get in the weeds with writing. You will share your ideas with your Pro through a series of interviews. From there, your Pro will do the writing and send chapters to you as they are ready and based on the workflow plan you create together. You will send feedback by phone/video or in writing, and your Pro will make up to a certain number of revisions based on your contract terms.
Note that while your Pro will do all of the writing, they will still count on you to be responsive and available to share ideas, data, notes, stories, and any other information they need to turn your insights into a cohesive and thoughtful manuscript. Your responsiveness is critical to creating a book that reflects your authentic voice, ideas, and intended final work.
Co-writing: This is best suited for authors who would like to do some writing, or who may already have some workable book content (blog posts, white papers, early chapter drafts, etc.). You and your Pro will decide how to approach the content and how you’d like them to help turn your existing work into a professional-quality manuscript.
The ghostwriter/author relationship can also look like a hybrid of these approaches. Your Pro will help you figure out the best action plan based on your needs.
